ODD ONE TO LOVE.

A more sensual piece than I thought, I’ve come to realize.
When I had shared it around to people I know, the reactions really did vary from lip biting to mild mannered pearl clutching asking me to censor it a bit. Regardless though, fans of Signalis seemed to appreciate it of which I am glad.

The idea for the image was to imagine Elster through the eyes of Ariane. So I depicted her laying on a seemingly unending bed in a way one might describe as inviting. As if this attraction is inescapable for Ariane.
In contrast to the more romantic imagery though, I framed Elster with a looming darkness. Within that darkness crawls sporadic lines of text that read “Do not try to befriend the Elster unit.” in reference to the instructions that Ariane is given by The Nation.

The ominous nature of this aspect of the work aims to capture the potential threats to any relationship that might form. Though as anybody who’s played Signalis knows, there was no helping them.
