SELF-PORTRAIT.

How I choose to represent myself has always been as this crude and ghostly version of myself with details vague enough to lend themselves to inconsistency.

I wanted to do a more detailed portrait due to this, I was interested in how weird it’d look to capture that quality with more believable rendering.

I drew the eyes in a vague way that looks as though they could be glowing, reflecting light or straight up white on the pupil side.

I kept the cartoonishly sharp teeth.

I love when animation includes clothing that leaves an impression with such intricate and subtle detail that it’s faintness disappears at even a slight distance. Creating both an easier time for the artists but also a more imaginative engagement with the viewer.

So I applied that to my avatar. The originally blank gold accessories of the clothing now carry faint Celtic knots as engravings along with spirals and triskeles to boot, when viewed up close.

This piece was the second where I drew all the eyelashes on a subject individually and I just love the weird effects it has on otherwise non-detailed character styles.

I enjoy this work. It’s a cartoony style rendered in a weirdly realistic manner.

It was a nice way to end 2025’s collection of work.
