WINDOW SHOPPER.

A darker piece that adds to the trend of the character from Bad Road being untrustworthy.

I wanted to capture that ick of getting gawked at or maybe realizing that someone is only talking to me because they consider me to fill a niche of some kind for them. Whether that means to be a confirmation to their biases, some sort of sexual object, it’s all the same.

In terms of what I did to capture that, some fun stuff. Something I really enjoyed about this piece was that it’s a 2 in 1. The piece titled Evaluating acts as a comic-like close up of the expression that sits pulled back in the foreground, now almost grossly detailed in the background.

This piece was really a good exercise in getting comfortable with texture again. I’m often so joyed about getting my drawings to a specific level of finished that by creating cool visual artifacts to go over them I can feel that I’m ruining them. But I just have to trust the process.

The glitchy yet gory looking nonsense that frames the screen acts as almost a visual score. An abstract expression of danger.

Strengthening that feeling of getting reduced to a walking accessory and or pleasurable tool. The frame being a pair of doll legs pulled open by some sort of red wire and or thread gives unsettling implications as to where things could go.

For now though, it’s all just gawking, window shopping.
